It's Christmasssssssssss!
We are excited to announce our 12 Days of Christmas plans - see below for what is happening each day!
Have a look at the 12 Days of Christmas gallery to see what we've been up to...
This half term is whizzing by! Have a look at the Autumn 2 Learning gallery for photos of what we've been up to including making WW2 inspired Anderson shelters, learning to dance the Charleston, taking part in a Poppies and Poetry online workshop, making circuits and taking part in Odd Socks Day for Anti-Bullying Week!
Welcome back to the second part of the Autumn term - I'm sure you all enjoyed the half term holiday and had lots of Halloween fun!
Our new topic is learning all about World War 1 and 2 - I know lots of you have been wanting to do this topic for a while now so we're really keen to get started on it and discover lots of new facts and interesting snippets about what happened! There's also all the festive fun around Christmas in this half term plus Robinwood so we're in for a busy few weeks! Have a read through our newsletter!
Our PE days are now Monday and Thursday so please come to school in your PE kit those days.
Homework:
Maths - Tuesdays
Reading Comprehension - Thursdays
Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars - updated with new spelling patterns and times tables
Any questions or worries, please get in touch.
Crucial Crew
All Year 6 recently went to Crucial Crew and learnt all about different ways to keep themselves safe as well as situations they might find themselves in one day. They learnt about fire safety, knife crime, road and bus safety, first aid and what happens in a court room. Their brains were so full of all this new information that once we were back at school, they prepared assemblies for KS1 and KS2 to pass on some key messages. They did a fantastic job and we were very proud of them!
Attention Year 6!
Wales High School Y6 Open Evening - see poster below for more details...
Welcome to Miss Harley's Year 6 class page!
We've had a fantastic start to the new school year and it's been SO lovely to see you all back and raring to go :) We are really excited about the year ahead after seeing what enthusiastic, bright and sparkly children we have!
Our first topic is MEXICO and we will be learning all about Mexican food, about an important artist (Frida Kahlo) and comparing things about the UK and Mexico - as well as much more... Have a read through our newsletter here
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays - remember you come to school in your PE kit so you're ready to go! School kit is a white t shirt, blue/black shorts or blue/black tracksuit bottoms/leggings (no fashion leggings please).
I will be in class everyday supported by a range of teaching assistants across the week. Mrs Lax will cover my PPA time on a Wednesday morning.
We will be sending home Maths and SPAG homework this half term and you will have a week to complete your tasks. Maths homework is marked on a Tuesday and SPAG will be on a Wednesday. Don't forget you have access to Times Table Rockstars and Spelling Shed as well - ask for your logins if you have forgotten them! All the activities are to support you and give you the chance to practise what we have been learning in school. If you are unsure about anything in your homework, please come and speak to us and we can help you.
I have updated the Reading for Pleasure tab on our page so have a look for some reading related ideas! You might also want to visit the Oxford Owl website - there's LOADS of e-books on there to have a look through.
Bring on the new school year!
